Littman stethoscope

I have just been accepted to nursing school this fall, and looking over my stethoscope choices, there are several offered through the school.

They are all Littman, but I have no clue which one I need. I see some that are more expensive, are they really better?

Any recommendations, favorites? Which Littman would you get?

Thanks! No, I am not required to order through the school. I visited the Medisave site yesterday, but I didn't realize they did free engraving - might just get mine from there then.

Also, I didn't think of using another name, for instance an online name.

I would get a Littman Classic IISE. Because that's what I got in school and still use.

I wouldn't put too much stock in my recommendation, though. My stethoscope has become a bit like a baby blanket to me; I can't imagine using another one.

Hey I got my stethoscope from medisave. I ended up getting the Cardiology II. Ridiculous..cause now its so heavy! I am going to be getting a Classic IISE soon..very soon. and they did the free engraving too. But I don't recommend getting it through the school. Last year they took forever for the students to get them! But I had mine fast cause I bought it online.

Oh and I would get your name on yours...A lot of Dr.s like to walk away with them..but if your names on them it gives you more hope of it coming back to you. I personally really don't like loaning out my $200 stethoscope but sometimes in the moment of chaos you think of the patient more than the stethoscope..just my ..lol..

You buy cheap you buy twice. dont' waste your money on those cheap 20 and 40 dollar stethoscopes. if you can try someone elses and see how you like it.

My girlfriend bought me a littmann Cardiology III, it is night and day difference. I had my name and her name engraved on it. She got it for me as a present during my second quarter of nursing school. I told her to buy it after graduation. So far I haven't lost it yet. That is my main concern. I had actually forgotten it the other day when we had a health fair. I was taking people's BP manually and used cheap stethoscopes. I hear so much background noise, other people talking, noise from the table, ect. It was awful. I love my littmann. I got mine in navy blue and bought black ear pieces. If it was my money a student I would go for the classic II. save your money, it will probably get lost. you are a student.
