This is my first time using this forum, so I wanted to take a second to say hello to everyone out there!

So, I am buying my first stethoscope and I was wondering what you all would recommend. I keep seeing Littman and Ultrascope being mentioned, but I wasn't sure which one to buy (lightweight, cardiology, etc.) And what is the difference in sound quality and getting rid of outside noise between regular stethoscopes and electronic? Thanks for your help, and send me a message or add me as a contact anytime!

I see a lot of posters that are happy with their Littman Classic, but I wouldn't/couldn't do without my Littman Cardiology III. :)

Specializes in EMS, ER, GI, PCU/Telemetry.

my littman classic has lasted me for many, many years.

it's a reliable, affordable stethoscope that is great for just starting out!

Heck yeah!! And it's a LOT lighter that the Cardiology...I'm just hard of hearing so the Cardiology works better for that. Not my neck, though :D

I got my Littmann Cardiology III today and I LOVE it!! Great sound and quality.

Thank you for all the replies. Between my post and reading others, I went ahead and bought the Littman Master Cardiology, along with a hip scope holder. I ordered it allheart.com, and although the shipping was a little expensive (around $15) I had my name engraved in it, and I will be receiving an accessory kit that they're offering for free for students, but of course you have to go through the pains of giving identification to prove that you're a student, but I'll let everyone know how that goes!

So I received the accessory kit about a month after sending in my information. It's great! It came with an amazing CD-ROM consisting of different heart sounds. I absolutely love it!

I love my Littman Classic, and it seems that while pricy, that brand is really the gold standard.
