Decent utility scrubs

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Ugh, i have again for the unknown time lost my scissors and pen light because they fall out more often for me because I am 6' 1" the tallest male on the floor. I wear cherokee scrubs because there cheap and have lasted me awhile. But the general side pockets on the pants suck.

Unless i load my pants full of flushes continuously (which i do at the start of the shift) as soon as i bend my legs to do anything it seems they fall out. And i like to be at the level of my patients. I appear less frightening said one patient...

I do not like putting my scissors in my front top scrub pockets for fear of some unforeseen accident where i am impaled by my own equipment. I witnessed in a near miss in nursing school; its a good thing our scissors lack points. Its probably an irrational fear, but i like my setup. I carry swabs and notes in my front pockets.

My coworker wears these:

She's got scisssors, light, and even a carpuject in these which comes in handy. I work on tele which is also serves as overflow for the icu. I would like something of the male equivalent. Anyone got an ideas? Tired of buying or borrowing scissors.

I did check on the dickies for guys. But im not sure if they are the same setup. The side pockets look sewed at the bottom. Not sure how they would work. Don't feel like buying them and finding out they don't work. Our single scrub shop doesn't sell dickies either so i can't tell.

Its sad, but while more males work in this field, our clothing is no where in comparison to women. I laughed when i walked in to my cities' scrub shop yesterday to see a small section for guys while the rest of the whole damn store is all women scrubs from plain to printed and scrubs that look like the most comfortable pair of yoga pants ever.

Have you tried a pocket organizer? If you scissors and light are corralled maybe they won't fall out?

Sorry you're having such a hard

time finding scrubs. I'm exactly average which means they never have my size. I'm going to try ordering a few different sets online and see what fits best. The Dickies pants I had bought are too short and the drawstring doesn't keep my

pants up. I hate having perpetual plumbers crack )

No i haven't used one. Its an idea to look into though.

I don't have that problem as i completely have no butt it seems (another patient comment). I kinda wish i did as maybe i wouldnt have to tie my scrubs so tight. I have the problem of finding tops that don't show my whole chest. I am a tall slender fellow. I could only dream of a decent chest and shoulders. So i've always had to special order my scrubs with a shorter vneck.

Aviator Scrubs

Specializes in ER.

Aviator Scrubs would be worth checking out. I think they have 40% off for nursing week but they have sales throughout the year, especially near holidays. I would look at them. They are heavy duty though however they have pockets galore. One good thing about one of their side pockets is that are like EMT pants and you can velcro the scissors into place. Most standard colors are in stock usually.

The standard scrub tops do not come with front pockets, however the pants pockets more than make up for it. The pants do have a belt thing that is unusual but it keeps the pants up very well. Some people hate it but I love it.
