What should I do to help my resume?

I apologize if this has been asked a thousand times before... If so, you can direct me to the question.

I'm a BSN nursing student with no health care experience, apart from a CNA job that I just got... so let's say that I have 6 months- a year of CNA experience, and maybe PCA job after that when I graduate...

My question is, what is the BEST thing that I can do between now and a year and a half from now when I graduate? Should I volunteer? What stands out on resumes? I don't want to just list my clinical experiences and my CNA experience, unless that would be enough?

I'm going to try to get a job as a tech in a hospital once I get some CNA experience so I'll be hired. But what should I do in the mean time? If I didn't have the CNA experience or the job didn't last a year for whatever reason, is there anything else that I could do while in school?

I found your post on Google and figured I would register and respond. I am a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) and I write nursing resumes on a daily basis. Although your clinical experiences and CNA experience will be adequate for an entry-level nursing resume, additional relevant experience will certainly help, such as volunteering in a healthcare setting.

Aside from relevant experience, rely heavily on your education. Your GPA (if respectable), list of coursework, and any extracurricular activities will also help strengthen your resume. Hope this helps!
