Leave off or list job that I've only been at a month???

Nurses Job Hunt

I took a job out of state thinking this was best for me professionally and academically. At the time my significant other was supportive and still is but we both are having doubts that is worth the risk to us financially. My question is should I leave it on my resume or list it? The unit is nice and my work has been fine there but my personal life is more important. I've never been through something like this and could use some advice.

SticU,

Your post didn't specifically clarify - are you quitting your current job and updating your resume to find a new job closer to home? If so, it depends on your other employment in 2013. If you had another job in 2013 (prior to the 1-month job now), you can write 2011-2013 (or whatever the year you were hired was, 2011 is my example) on your resume and leave off the months. This will hide the 1-month job. If this is your first job of 2013, you should probably include your current job to avoid showing a large employment gap.

Unfortunately, answering questions like this is somewhat difficult without knowing your entire employment background. If you provide more information I can answer the question more accurately :)

I was employed from May 2012-Nov. 2013 in a surgical/trauma/neuro icu and also worked at a gen. Micu/Sicu from April 2013 thru October 2013 in a community hospital.

Yes I would be quitting the job I just started but can't till I have another job. I like my current job but I didn't have much time to consider long term consequences I.e. how it would really feel being away from family and support, financial implications, etc. before accepting the positioning.

The first unit listed, I was at the hospital for six years and my track record is good and I'm not flighty but I took an opportunity that I thought would be amazing but really wasn't much different than previous experience and would require my boyfriend giving up a solid job (which is hard in the teaching field) and is more of a specialized school located in a psychiatric facility.

I want to be honest but I'm afraid no one will look at my resume. I thought about making a note in my cover letter explaining briefly why I am leaving it.
