Misty, I called to ask about the Police form..I need help with that but you answered my question although I wonder when does the fall deadline for the nursing program is(just dont want to wait to long) I just wanted to turn everything in at once!
I'm sorry, I must have missed it! Our phone was dead pretty much all day yesterday. My hubby can't seem to get in the habit of charging it LOL Call me today if you still need help.

As for the fall deadline, I would get everything over here by late May or early June at the latest. That gives them time to do what they need to do, which takes a while.

I will be starting the 2yr bsn in August. I will move there in July to get set up with car and housing. I'm dead set on living in Ocean Park or nearby. There are studios, but the best bet is sharing a 2br. You can get very nice places close to the beach for around 1000.
Ocean Park...WOW! You've got good taste LOL

Thanks metrogirl, I filled it out. I think it's a good idea to roommate I looked at apartments on line and emailed someone. The woman said a car is necessary because the school is between 2 highways. I think a scooter will do. lol
I mapquested the school and it is.

Hey! Here's the online app. Choose option 5:

I'm really excited and I'm sending out my transcripts tomorrow for consideration. In the event that I do attend (which would be very likely, provided that my application is processed before August),
Make sure you send it priority mail or certified and also call "E" in the English Trimester office to ask him to look out for it, if you can.

I really wanted to go to this school until a. The whole island time thing? It's complete horse manure. I knew and know plenty of "island people" (including from PR) who can get things done well and quickly. AND b. The fact that a student in the program (according to Mike Choley here) mentioned that they themselves wouldn't be surprised if the program loses accreditation later this year. That's not funny...at all. Imagine being 4 months into a program - having spent plenty of $$$ to move from the mainland - only to have to wait another year, maybe TWO to apply and get in to another one because. I still would love to attend IAU Metro if it turned out that, magically, the quality was miles ahead of the administration's communication skills but I just have a sense that this is not the case.

    Good luck.

A scooter is kinda a death wish in San Juan. I mean, fun sure, but I live in LA and we drive rather tepidly compared to the locals in SJ.

Dont know if this was a joke but....
DO NOT get a scooter here if you do not know how to get around. I will guarantee you...you will get hurt, if not worse.

Scooters are pretty popular here in PR, but I wouldn't drive one. First, we have huge, and I mean HUGE potholes that don't get much attention. Second, like Oakley44 said, people here in PR drive crazy. When you drive here, you have to be extremely aggressive. It's not that people aren't nice here LOL it's just so overpopulated that you have to throw yourself out there or you won't get anywhere. Like I mentioned before, there are a lot of stop signs that are missing, so unless you know the roads you're in trouble. I wouldn't want to go through a 4-way intersection that's missing the stop sign with a scooter.

I may be biased, because my best friend died in a motorcycle accident about 4 years ago in Florida, but I say stick with a car. Used cars here are kinda expensive, but you don't have to pay monthly insurance so you save that money every month. I think gas prices are comparable to the mainland. Right now I think we're paying 77 cents a liter.

Ok so the scooter is out! thanks. I read some where on this tread that inter metro might lose Accreditation. I looked for the post but cant find it.
the Year of Initial Accreditation was March 1987 why would anything change now?

Why not? The NLNAC has to maintain rigid ever-expanding accreditation authority in order to remain legitimate - and also compete with the CCNE. If a student that actually GOES there doesn't really have faith in the program then that should say something about the way it's run. UPR, which is undoubtedly a better school (academically speaking), had it's own CRNA program accreditation revoked a few years back. IAU's CRNA program in Arecibo is still running strong but each campus has its own vibe. I realize ONE student's opinion isn't statistically valid but it's still enough to cause concern for me. I hope it's not true but that as well as the other opinions of the folks on this thread have made me a little fearful of what lies ahead for Metro Campus.

OK, So you think its a gamble? Is there any way of knowing we would be safe at inter metro. I cant find any info on the pass rate.

I read somewhere in this forum that the pass rate was extremely high. I'm not sure where that thread is though, sorry! That was quite a while back, too.

They were probably referring to the pass rate for the CRNA examination and not the NCLEX. I emailed "E" today and plan on calling him 11am P.R. time tomorrow to ask him about the applications/pass rate.
