  1. I think a previous poster mentioned that this is their equivalent of Craigslist: http://www.clasificadosonline.com/ I saw apartments on there that were within in walking distance of Louis Vuitton (or something like that) and things like Walgreen's for like $800 for a 1 bedroom. The rate seem pretty reasonable. I'm a DC native, and that's about how much you pay for a college apartment around here. P.S. In the event that I do attend, which is likely, I would be looking for a female roommate, heads up to anyone else who is in the same situation.
  2. ChanelCing: How long have you been waiting for a decision? Have you sent out your transcripts and SS card?
  3. I'm graduating in May from undergrad and am considering flying out afterward to look at neighborhoods and secure housing as well. I haven't gotten a decision yet, but don't doubt that I will soon. Does anyone have any neighborhood recommendations? From what I've been looking at online, Miramar, Isla Verde and Condado seem to be what I'm looking for.
  4. Also, does anyone know the typical schedule of the program? What time are classes/clinicals? Are clinicals in Spanish or English?
  5. Hey guys: I was just looking at the Inter website and it looks like they updated the English Trimester section saying that nursing is now a day only instead of an evening only program. Has anyone else heard about this?
  6. If you read closely, he basically said that if they lose accreditation, they can reapply for the next year or cycle, and it is very rare that they would be denied a second time.
  7. hey! this post is for everyone concerned about accreditation. i emailed someone with nlnac (the organization that accredits nursing schools). here's the convo: me: i am interested in attending nursing school at the iaupr metro campus starting in the fall because i think it would be a great experience for me. however, i am concerned because the accreditation of the school is up for review this fall. if i entered the program in the fall and it lost accreditation, what would happen to me and the rest of the students? have situations like this occurred in the past? nlnac: the program you are looking for has been accredited since 1997 and considering accreditation as a voluntary peer-review process; one can only believe that the nursing program is doing all they need to do for the best of the program (students, faculty, resources, etc). nobody has a crystal ball to predict the future but all programs go through continuing accreditation every 8 years and undergo continuous monitoring by nlnac. i hope this answers your question. me: i am actually still a little confused. in the event that i start the bsn program this august, and the school loses accreditation this fall, what will happen to me? nlnac: hypothetical of course, the program may seek re-accreditation for the next year or cycle and may or may not conferred accreditation. if they get denied accreditation, you will be a graduate of non-accredited program and may not be able to transfer your credits to another institution of your choice. while denial of continuing accreditation is a rare occurrence, this is a possibility of course.
  8. Hey! Here's the online app. Choose option 5: https://ocsbanp.inter.edu/pls/prod/bwskalog.P_DispLoginNon I'm really excited and I'm sending out my transcripts tomorrow for consideration. In the event that I do attend (which would be very likely, provided that my application is processed before August),
  9. Also, how many people are in each class? I just found out about Inter a few weeks ago and I am just now sending out my transcript. I am worried that everything won't be ready before the August 2010 program start, so I am wondering if there is a wait list, or if I will definitely be accepted. I love the idea of living in PR, as I have never left the States and I want to try a new experience. What is it like? Is it safe (especially at night time)? Is there a lot of nightlife? What is the best thing to do about a car? Do I need to submit immunization records? Other than your app and transcript, what did you send? Also, is the dress casual on campus, or more formal? In San Juan, what are the people like? Young, old, English/Spanish speakers? PR natives/transplants? I'm trying to get a better sense of the area. Do you know any programs with hospitals where they will pay your tuition in exchange for work? The tuition is cheap, but I do want to live in PR and work for a few years. It would be a great chance to experience other culture. Also, have you ventured to other islands in the Caribbean? Also, how easy is it to contact ppl at the school? Do you have any recommendations for plan of attack after I submit my transcript?? Thanks in advance for reading all these questions!
  10. Thanks for the quick response! Just to clarify, once my transcript is sent out, you think it will take a week to receive an acceptance?
  11. Hello! I plan on applying to Inter for the English Trimester program starting in either August of November 2010. I've already sent out my application, I just need to send my transcripts at this point. I have a few questions for those of you in the know. 1. Once you send out your application and all materials, how long until you receive a response? 2. If you have completed all your core/standard pre-nursing courses (nutrition, Anat/Phys, microbio etc.) how long does it take to complete the bachelor's degree? In addition, how much does it cost? 3. Are clinicals in English or Spanish? What is it like adjusting to a Spanish speaking area? I took Spanish in high school and still remember most of the words, but how long until I would be fluent enough to treat a patient who only speaks Spanish? 4. What is the employment outlook like for nurses in Puerto Rico? What is the pay like?
  12. Hmm. Hot mess. I got a hold of her and she said she just got back to the office from a long trip. She took down my phone number and said she'd call me when she gets a chance to look through the apps. That was two days go and she still hasn't called. I think I'll wait a week and call back.
  13. Did you call? I tried to call to make sure all my application materials were received but I couldn't reach anyone.
  14. lol I know what you mean...However, I don't think I can hide my desperation. I graduate college in 7 weeks and I'm ready to move out to sunny Nevada.
  15. Hmm...that's about a month ago. I'm shocked you haven't received a letter by now.
