Why can Toradol IV only be given for 48 hours?

Just wondering if there is a risk for damage to liver, kidney, etc. Most of my patients seem to get more relief with IV Toradol than with Morphine or any other narcotic, but they are only ordered for 48 hours. Just wondering.

IIRC, Toradol causes water retention, Kidney damage and also affects the liver (and increases bleeding time too).

It is usually prescribed for short durations because the side-effects accumulate and increase over time.
