Update on EC CPNE site in Louisiana

Well, the ditz I spoke with at EC in the CPNE department, didn't know anything at all, so I'll check back with them tomorrow and hope for someone else.

The LA BON employees, as usual NEVER answered the phone. So, I had to take it back to their website.

As I said EC having a CPNE site at BR General was on the agenda in Jan, April, and June. I was able to read the Jan and April meeting minutes, but unfortunately the June minutes haven't been uploaded yet.

In January the board said they wanted more infor, from EC, the hospital, and other Nursing schools in the area, as far as how they were doing their clinical scheduling.

In April, the board had approved EC's request with the following requirements:

• The student must be a Louisiana resident
• The student must be eligible for direct licensure in Louisiana

What that means is if you aren't from Louisiana, or even if you are from here, but weren't and LPN before enrolling in EC you won't be able to take the CPNE here. Just to note anyone who was not an LPN before EC is still eligible for licensure in Louisiana, you just have to have six months of experience first, and then you can endorse in, but this in NOT direct licensure ( or at least not how I interpret it).

I don't think that EC will go for this (that is most likely why they were again on the Agenda in June), just because that is now how EC does things.
