Online school prep mode: Laptop ready to go?

Hi Friends.

So to be ready to hit the "books" this spring, I know one thing I have to make sure is up to par is my laptop computer. Anyone know how much memory is required and how fast do they have to be to keep up with all the typing of research papers, proctored exams, online test taking, etc?

Also, any online tools you use all the time, including software and websites, you would die without?

All online courses that I have looked into post the computer system requirements on the general info, course registration page. For the one I am currently enrolled in, for computer "proctored" exams, I had to get a webcam. I still have to figure out how to use it before I schedule my first exam.

Thanks...will look into it. I was also hoping someone would have any suggestions regarding equipment or supplies that helped with their online studies as well.
