are you going thru ec alone or with cn modules?

how much do ec's books run?

i am trying to figure out ec vs ec via college network materials.

so far, i am really favoring ec.

can i study for these exams and test without going thru either? say i buy books on ebay and test, have the exam results send to ec???

enroll when i hit nc1 or nc3?

thanks and best wishes!

Hi cjandmama,

I am not using any publishing companies to get through the program. The books vary in price. You can check around though for the best deals.

As far as testing independent of Excelsior, they actually write the nursing concepts exams so you have to go through them for that. I understand that many students CLEP out of some of the prereqs and other courses you might be required to take. Definitely check with them on that.

I have heard several people recommend enrolling at NC3 so that if it takes longer than a year from you initial enrollment date you don't have to pay an additional fee. I don't plan to take that long so I just went ahead and enrolled.

Best wishes to you also. Keep us posted on how it's going for you.

i have recently started (like this week) for the nc1 exam. believe it or not i got my books through barnes and noble. they were all cheaper than specialty books (the company that excelsior uses). i will continue to get my books through them for the rest of them. in addition to that, excelsior trys to get you to buy all the study guides published for the books, and other books that aren't testable material. i would love to get a list of just the required materials. that should save you a good bit of money in the long run.
