Well if the benefits out weigh the bad then, yes I would suck it up and wear a long sleeve shirt.

I see, well I wasn't planning of getting anything offensive. Just a caduceus on the back of my left arm.
  7. Hi, I'm J. I'm 20 years old and have been in the navy for the last 3 years. Joined when I was 17. I'm a Navy Hospital Corspman by trade (if you don't know what that is just ask I'd love to show you that amazing community). I decided to go into nursing because of my work as a corpsman. As a corpsman you have a lot of direct pt care, except with the military you have to move more often than I would like. Plus, I know that I can make a huge impact in many lives becoming a nurse. I'm going to excelsior because of the flexibilty and being on active duty its basicly the route to go. I know other corpsman that this program worked great for. I'll be on these boards forever, and i'm looking forward to getting to know you or helping anyway that I can. Thats what we do, lets keep it going in every aspect of life.
  8. Tell her to get a grip. I am a male nursing student and proud to be it. Just check out the male nursing section and i'm sure they will all tell you how they feel about that. She is probably just upset that couldn't cut it. I'm in the military and tons of people try to crack on me until I put them in there place.

I am in agreement with the scrawney upper arm idea. So anyone else?
  10. I just got my books for the NC1 exams. I am active duty military so the exams are free for me. So in other words, not far at all.

Are there any male nurses out there with some ink on there arms where pts can see? Do you think this has a negative effect on how they view you as a nurse?
  13. I use a laptop. I bought a laptop because I'm in the military and have to travel often. Its just more easier for me due to limited space.
  14. You could always just email the admissions department of excelsior and I think they could help you out with that. They could answer all of my questions in regards to accrediation in pa and so on.
  15. i have recently started (like this week) for the nc1 exam. believe it or not i got my books through barnes and noble. they were all cheaper than specialty books (the company that excelsior uses). i will continue to get my books through them for the rest of them. in addition to that, excelsior trys to get you to buy all the study guides published for the books, and other books that aren't testable material. i would love to get a list of just the required materials. that should save you a good bit of money in the long run.
