In Desperate Need....please Reply

Hello everyone,

I am currently in an ADN program and taking a 13 hour semester. Well, I wrote two schools and asked them to evaluate my unofficial transcripts, so that after graduation I am not scrambling to get different courses completed. So, I found out that eventhough I have everything completed (except Microbiology inwhich I planned on taking in the summer) I still need General Chemistry and General Biology. Well, luckily I can CLEP these courses including the Microbiology and just take all of the labs on campus later. I have been reading some of the previous post, but I need people to really chime in on their experiences on the above 3 CLEP exams PLEASE! Furthermore, I did CLEP English Composition a few years ago and passed with an A, thus I am familiar with CLEP. Aside from the credit load for the short summer semester of 15 hours...I just don't have the flexibility in my schedule to juggle all of the extra courses. How much study time should I take for each course...General Chemistry, General Biology, and Microbiology. I've already had my A&P 1 AND 2.

I don't really have advice. I just wanted to mention that I didn't think there is a CLEP test for Microbiology. I am taking Micro on-line now and I can't even image what a CLEP test for it would be like. It is just so much information. You could CLEP the other ones though. Check out the following link and do a search on the CLEP test you are interested in. You will get feedback from other people who took the test you are inquiring about. Good Luck!

Mommycakers,

I thank you for your reply and I am sorry to say that I meant the Excelsior Microbiology exam and the CLEP exams for the Chemistry and Biology. I will check out the weblink that you left for me though. Thank you very much!

I took the EC Micro exam in November -- it wasn't easy, but it was do-able! The first thing I did was read a great book called "Microbiology Demystified." I also studied with the recommended text as well as a TCN study guide that I purchased on eBay. I felt like the exam was very true to the EC exam content guide. I also recommend the EC practice exams for Micro -- well worth the $60 because they give you an idea of the flavor of the real exam, and they're a great study tool as well. Best of luck to you! :)

Sorry about that, I am not familiar with that test. Good luck to you.
