My husband is a PT and he needs to complete some general education courses. We looked into the Excelsior as a good option.

Can someone decribe to me how the courses are actually run? Is there some kind of a final exam for the general courses or is EVERYTHING done online?

Excelsior offers some courses that are 100% online, but many credits are earned through Excelsior College Examinations. You're given a study outline, buy a textbook, read the material, and take one proctored exam (which is your course grade) at a Prometric Testing Center.

If he's trying to apply credits toward a degree at another school, you would want to check with that school to find out about transferability of credits. I'm assuming that he's doing this for a higher degree in PT. If I am not mistaken, physical therapists are not admitted to the nursing program itself.

if you send ec your transcripts they can send you a class list of exactly what you need.

I believe that only LPN/LVN RT's and paramedics are accepted into the program. (I graduated from EC, but had my LPN already)

I have taken some excelsior courses to cut classes that I would have to take in a classroom. I am an LPN and I could clip classes by taking the excelsior exam. On excelsior they give you guidelines to what is on the test. then you go take the timed test online. It was really easy if you ask me! I clipped Maternal/child health, mental health, and adult health 1 classes.

The tests are timed, they are on a computer, but they are not online. You go to a testing center where there are security cameras, a proctor, etc. It's similar to the testing centers used to for NCLEX these days.

I think that I didn't explain myself well enough. What my husband, a PT, needs, is to take some general courses - for example "Culture and Society" in order to have his international education recognised in USA by FCCPT (-similar to CGFNS reports...) - because he doesn't have enough "general education" credits.

If he is living arroad (Israel), how is he going to take the exams? At home at our computer or does he have to go to a testing center?

Military corpsman are also accepted into the program as well.
