  1. Hey, I'm from pembroke, ga and work at Memorial !
  2. I work here too and I agree with you!
  3. Try Accord Services. they are a home health agency and have jobs all over GA. pay is good.
  4. This is exactly what we do! Giving the baby a bath can send it over the edge and really stress them out. The ideal time is within an hour. but like Gompers said those were the priorities.
  5. THe risk is very minimal besides the stress of critically ill babies. Whenever we have xrays, we step in for the pregnant nurse and she leaves the area for a few mins. and we wear lead aprons. As for the viral illnesses. we rarely have any viral infections, and if we do they are in isolation. The main infections our babies get are bacterial and because they have such a low immune system to begin with. RSV is mainly on a pediatric floor, not NICU. Anyone who is ill is not allowed in the unit. Mainly you and your baby would be safe.
  6. You must be a certified PICC line nurse to insert lines, change dressings, and remove the Picc lines.
  7. I agree that you should be very uncomfortable maintaining a PICC line. PICC lines and any central lines are very dangerous and without proper training or inservice, if something were to go wrong, you might not be able to pick up on the s/s of problems. PICC lines, if they migrate can cause heart arrythmias and other potential problems. Im my state LPNs are allowed to give medications through the central lines but not allowed to draw blood from them. you should read your states nurse practice act. I assume you would have to flush the line with heparin often also. I would bring these concerns to the RN in charge and request more information about maintaining PICC lines, and not get the inservice from the PT, (although the pt would probably be helpful also)
  8. Thanks A Bunch. I already ordered Bunches!!! THis is going to be great!:chuckle
  9. I have taken some excelsior courses to cut classes that I would have to take in a classroom. I am an LPN and I could clip classes by taking the excelsior exam. On excelsior they give you guidelines to what is on the test. then you go take the timed test online. It was really easy if you ask me! I clipped Maternal/child health, mental health, and adult health 1 classes.
  10. I am speaking to the local highschool for career day about hospital nursing. I work in a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery. What can I do to recruit and interest these teenages into a career in nursing? WHat should I talk about. My experiences? The different fields of nursing? THere is so much I don't know where to begin, I have 25 mins. to speak. I can use power point or anything I need to provide the presentation. Please HElp!
