CPNE and FCCA? Excelsior questions! Help a long time member!

Nursing Students Online Learning

So students who enroll after October 2007 will have to take both the CPNE AND the FCCA (Focused Clinical Competencies assessment).

Can you "enroll" in Excelsior, take class before you finish your LVN?

This FCCA sounds like another 3-day clinical. I have no problem with that if those are the new rules.

How long do most people wait for a CPNE test time?

I don't know how many classes you can take before you actually enroll, but to be actually accepted into the nursing program, I think you have to actually have your LVN. You could probably do NC1, but as far as other pre-reqs, I'm not sure. You should contact Excelsior and ask them -- I'm sure they'll tell you what you can get out of the way now, if you're not quite done.

If I'm understanding it correctly, the FCCA will be done in a testing center, just the like other exams. The CPNE will be the same as it is now. I think the average application-to-CPNE time is currently about 6 months.

Hope that helps! :)

I just got off the phone with Excelsior.

Wow! They are SO nice!

The FCCA is a 3-part test at a testing center.

You have to take 2 parts of the FCCA to be eligible for the CPNE.

The average wait time for the CPNE is 6 months.

You can't enroll without the LVN/paramedic, but you can go ahead and take NC!

NC 3 is being broken into 2 parts. That is why there will be 8 test. NC3 is the test most people fail because of the large amount of info so they want to make it more efficient for the students.

They said everything you did Lunah!

LOL!

I looked at the curriculum and I already have ALL the prereqs DONE! WOOT!

I have so many college credits it's kinds embarassing.

All I have to do know is twist the arm of the private LVN school in my area to accept as many of my transfer credit as possible and I can get going!

If anyone has any tips on the test, please post.

*I might be an RN by this time next year!!!!!* :balloons:

This is why my husband thinks I'm always right -- I don't say something unless I'm 99% sure I'm correct. :D

Don't be embarrassed about having a lot of credits -- it's a GOOD thing! :) I have two Associates degrees myself ... when I finish Excelsior, it'll be my third Associates degree. I think that is a little pathetic, but hey ... I'll take it! And one of these days I'll get a BSN. Then I think I can stop. Maybe. :D

Hehehe

I tell my DF I am always right too! He just looks at me funny (and then kisses me when he realizes I WAS right)

I think you and I may be "school-a-holics"! :p
