I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews online for Capella, but they are mostly from Business students. Need info from someone who has done their RN-BSN with them.

Hi DeLynn, I just completed my first semester with Capella's RN-BSN program. So far it is OK. Everything is reading papers and discussion boards. The department of nursing has new leadership and they now have town halls which you can attend or watch the recorded townhall at a later date. They also just added an additional charge in addition to your regular tuition. They are calling it a "resource fee." It is an additional $125. It includes an e book and a physical book. I complained about because you can rent a textbook for 20 bucks. Their response to my complaint was that it covered technology too. My response was that this whole college is a technology based university, why the additional fee? I feel like it is another way for them to get money out of their students. After finishing my first class there are a few things I would recommend: there is no "prep" class, if you don't know APA format, you need to get familiar with it, they expect you to know it day one. Read the grading rubrics CAREFULLY, everything you need to know to get an A on a paper is right there, just follow along and provide what is listed. Most of the time, there are no sample papers, just know that going forward. My advisor is very responsive to my questions and my first instructor got back to me within 12 hours after I emailing with questions. I can't say it's the best program and if I had all the money in the world I would have gone with Villanova's program. Capella is expanding the FLEX path program to nursing and I will be able to switch to that in July, I may just do that as I think it will shorten up my program.

Also beware of the nasty, nasty, rude woman that works in the financial aid office.

I have four classes remaining in the RN-BSN program. I would not give the program a bad review at all. I actually enjoy the program. I would advise you to consider enrolling into the program which is nationally and regionally accredited.
