Any Idea of the best place to take accredited Chem online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi,

I am a nursing student in a traditional program in my sr. year the only basic course I have left is Chemistry. The dean of nursing states she is fine w/me taking it online as long as its accredited and the chem dep. think its a good substitute. So does anyone know of the best places I can find a good online chem at?

Thanks in advance.

I would advise takin Chemistry at a school. Eg. a Comm Clollege. Chem is not the best course ot take online

Two places you should check into -- www.iowacconline.com and www.ccconline.org

Iowa and Colorado community college consortiums, respectively. I took my Chem through Iowa. The instructor is great. It is an intro to chem class. Experiments are virtual with the Chemlab program you buy, and also with simple household materials. I learned a lot and felt prepared for Microbio and Organic/Biochem (intro class).

I took Micro though Colorado. The labs are more traditional, as I believe the Chem course labs are. You buy a home kit from At home Science. Colorado recently raised their tuition. Iowa is still pretty reasonable.

You cant go wrong with either and they are both accredited.

Good luck.

Right I understand that, but my sr. nursing schedule w /long clinicals is not conducive to taking chemistry in the traditional setting. I audited Chem 2 yrs. ago and took adv. chem in high school so I am very much prepared to take it online as an independent learner. I don't know if you are in nursing school or not but most schedules are pretty tough to work in a lecture and 3 hour lab like chem.

I took Intro to Chemistry with lab for 5 credits with ccconline. You just have to purchase a seperate book that you will do all lab assignments from. The labs just call for everyday household supplies. Nice class. I learned a great deal.

However, like the previous poster stated, ccconline raised their tuition rates. I moved to edukan.org (Kansas Community Colleges) since I can get almost two 4 credit classes for the price of one at ccconline.

Good luck to you!
