Under Investigation...need help

Nurses Criminal

Published

I guess in 2009 I didn't disclose my driving under a suspended license because I thought it was considered a traffic violation (stupid stupid me) Its a Class B Misdemeanor. I paid the fines and was done with it. When I renewed my license in 2009 I checked "No" to misdemeanor/arrest  I received a letter from the TxBON today that they are investigating me because it looks like I lied on my license renewal form. This was in no way my intention. What is going to happen to me? My family depends on my salary as a nurse (which isn't much) I am scared of getting stipulations, fines or worse losing my nursing license. Do I need to hire a lawyer or can I do this on my own?

we can't offer legal advice, but I'd never try anything like this alone!

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

We can't offer legal advice at AN per our Terms of Service. Get the lawyer because the BON is NOT the nurse's friend, and you need someone who will put you and your needs first...and the BON definitely won't do that. We don't know what will happen to you, but having a lawyer will help you get the best possible outcome.

You can find lawyers versed in dealing with nursing matters and BONs here: TAANA Executive Office - Home

Best of luck.
