RN applicants with criminal past

Nurses Criminal

Published

Why do all you goody tissue RN's always have something negative to say when prosperous RN's/ students have questions about becoming a nurse with a criminal past? I mean do any of you believe in regret? the past? people make mistakes and pay for them for their lives! I recently graduated and have some blemishes on my record that god knows. I ain't proud of, offenses that occured over 10+ years ago. Offenses that I have put behind me, now the AZBN has put me under investigation, don't get me wrong I understand the boards process but what I don't get is people who post nothing but negative feedback for people trying to get some kind of hope. For the most part all you guys do is say how we should not try blah, blah, blah. I know I have changed and so have many others. So to summarize my point if you have never walked a mile in our shoes and know why or how we got caught up in the system keep your negative comments to yourself, its hard enough to go through what I myself and many other go through.

This forum is for nurses, not law enforcement so please spare me your thoughts.

Plenty of police officers get arrested for crimes, themselves. And politicians/lawmakers and judges. But if you aren't a polce officer or lawmaker or judge, you 'will' be held responsible for your actions!

Um, yeah, I'm going to agree with the poster with a background from LE. You are a grown up. If you make choices, be prepared to live with the consequences of these choices.

Being nurses does not make us perfect. However, I think most people expect us to have better morals than most. Calling us names kind of implies a lack of responsibility on your part.

I guess it's true when they say "nurses eat their young". All I can say is through this experience I will humble myself more and learn to appreciate the license when I do get it! I do apologize for coming out aggressive, but the truth is there are way too many judgmental nurses here on this forum. If the shoe fits wear it I will never let anyone get me down, nor tell me that my goal of becoming a RN is not attainable.[/quote']

Well first and foremost, I have no clue how this has anything to do with NETY. None.

Second, I agree with you. You definitely need to humble yourself more. We aren't being high and mighty. For the most part, members here are not bring judgemental. We do however tell it like it is. Holding your hand, patting your back, and telling you that all with be ok is not realistic. Life isn't fair, no matter what anybody told you. If you choose to engage in behaviors that affect your criminal background, deal with it.

Oh, and while having any criminal background may not stop you from getting your nursing licence, it sure as tootin' can hinder your chances of getting a job. Nursing schools will tell you whatever you want to hear so they can take your money. Employers however will look at at the hundreds of applicants they see for their jobs, and are a whole lot more likely to hire one with no criminal history on file. Just saying.... see that this isn't judgment, it's reality.

URNmuway. you must be one of those "I know it all," and I'm waay to good for you RN's. You dont know my situation, yet u r quick to judge. It's because of people like you who work as nurses why I chose this profession to begin with. Trust me I have already paid for my mistakes 1 million times. You dont even know what I did and You still are quick to opiniate. Wow! what evere happened to being a compassionate person? anyhow please don't reply back, It's people like you who I'm reffering to.

Good luck thuggins, Chase your dream to the fullest, never let anyone from this site not anywhere tell you that you will not change! People have a tendancy to give their two cents when all they can use is their fingers. I'm willing to bet that in person they wouldn't be as direct with you.
