Praying for a second chance

Nurses Criminal

Published

hello all, i go before the AZ state board of nursing in July of 2016. In 2009 i was arrested for shoplifting went to jail and got a misdemeanor the board gave me multiple chances to comply but i failed at doing so
:(
i thought it was over for me. I went to my hearing in 2011 and some of the board members wanted to give me a second chance but majority didnt. so my CNA CERTIFICATION WAS REVOKED FOR 5 yrs. I was told i could try again after the 5 yrs was over. This has been the longest five years of my life. I was young and made a stupid decision and can honestly say i learned my lesson the hard way. Ive had my CNA since i was 17 and lost it at 22. At a time when everything in my life was going so great it came tumbling down because of the choices that i made, and i have no to blame but myself. Ive thought about what other careers i can go into but nothing inspires me but nursing. While waiting for that date to come I have been taking my prereqs for the nursing program here in Az. happy to say i have 5 more classes before i finish all of them and have received nothing but A's & B's. My mom is a
RN
/BSN and she motivates me everyday not to give up. Sometimes i get worried that I might not get that second chance.

I know how hard this is knowing that your fate truly lies within the hands of the board. You have to keep pushing forward. The best advice I was ever given in a similar condition is: you will never know if you don't try. You won't ever become a nurse if you don't take that leap of faith and will sit the rest of your life wondering "what if". They can only say no- it would be absolutely crushing and devastating and the worst day ever but if nursing is your dream, your passion, you owe it to yourself to try. I wish you the best of luck when you go before the board :)

I agree!!you are older now and in a totally different space. Things will work in your favor just continue to work hard and pray!
