Update to my story!! I graduated nursing school May of 2016, took NCLEX in July, and passed with an unrestricted license in Michigan!! It can be done folks!!

Anyone else varying in scrub sizes amongst brands?? I'm 5'7 and 140 lbs approx 34x26x40.. Greys Anatomy tops- S, pants S tall. Cherokee- XS top, S tall bottoms. Carhartt- S top, M tall bottom. HeartSoul- S top, M Tall bottom. Just kind of frustrating going from XS to S to M. Interested in trying Koi and urbane brands, any recommendations for sizes there??

I had 75 questions and 31 were SATA (I kept track). Despite getting the bad pop up from Pearson, I indeed did PASS and was given an unrestricted RN license in the state of MI. Good luck to everyone!!!

Update-- I got my license! The Pearson trick did NOT work for me. It gave me the bad pop up and I indeed had actually passed. I checked the state website at 6AM on the 22nd and my license had posted! That was a cruel, cruel trick Pearson!

Hi all, Took my NCLEX yesterday afternoon 7-20 and I have been checking Pearson/LARA all day for updates. I've tried the Pearson trick and it's telling me my credit card is invalid which I have heard means I fail. :( This is a feeling I would not wish on anyone. I'm trying not to give up hope and am praying that I may be the exception to this rule. I have a criminal record & disclosed everything, got ATT and good to go from the state of Michigan, however they told me if they wish to issue restrictions or probations that it will be done after they receive passing score on NCLEX. Pearson says my unofficial results are not available so I do not even have the option to purchase the 48hr early results. Has this happened to anyone? Am I wrong for thinking that MAYBE MI is putting restrictions on my license and thats why my results aren't up? Or did I really just fail? Ugh either way, this is HARD.

In MI, I have two theft convictions and was able to get into a program and do clinical with no questions asked. The hard part comes for licensure and sitting for the NCLEX but you won't ever get there if you don't try. Absolutely try to get it expunged, it will look better when licensing comes around but as far as getting into school goes, they will accept you as long as you meet the time restrictions and requirements.

I agree with the other posters. Getting into a program is the easy part. Many schools are happy to take your money as long as you meet the requirements and time frames for the convictions. If your state board will give you any insight that would be great but don't count on in. Many states simply say they evaluate the applications on an individual basis and they won't tell you anything until you apply. As sticky as the situation may be for you, you will never be a nurse if you don't try. Best of luck to you.

Well I have good news and bad news. Bad news first-- in many states there is a time limit you must pass after convictions before gaining access to a clinical environment. In MI, 5 years must have passed since the date of conviction for someone to work in a clinical setting (or do clinicals for school). Good news-- Many schools are open to convictions as long as you are past that time frame stated above. It is absolutely imperative you let your school know or at least ask how this charge will effect your chances at getting into the program and going through clinicals. Being that your incident occurred this year, you must talk with your school before you get ahead of yourself. Like the others above have said, you must get through the background check (doesn't necessarily mean you must have no convictions but rather you meet the criteria) before the fun can begin. I truly wish you the best and hope you will be allowed entry for clinical. In no way do I want to discourage you but I had a juvenile misdemeanor conviction that showed up on my background check even though I had always been told it would be hidden because I was a minor. However, in my state you are required to wait x amount of years after the crime depending on the conviction. In MI, a felony is a 10 year wait, depending on what it was for. Some felonies are a lifetime ban. You need to talk this over with someone at your school to determine if you are eligible and if not, when you will be. Again, best of luck to you.

I know how hard this is knowing that your fate truly lies within the hands of the board. You have to keep pushing forward. The best advice I was ever given in a similar condition is: you will never know if you don't try. You won't ever become a nurse if you don't take that leap of faith and will sit the rest of your life wondering "what if". They can only say no- it would be absolutely crushing and devastating and the worst day ever but if nursing is your dream, your passion, you owe it to yourself to try. This may be the wrong place to ask this, I just don't know where the better place would be. I have 9 months left of nursing school and am anticipating problems obtaining licensure due to 2 theft misdemeanors (expunged but may still be an issue). I made two terrible decisions and deeply regret them but I must move forward with my life. So here's the big problem: I am preparing myself for the worst (being denied a license) but I am trying to figure out how to plan my life if that happens. Getting personal, I will be graduating when I'm 27. I have had endometriosis for 7 years and my Dr. told me to get pregnant the sooner the better because my fertility will fade as I age. Time is not on my side. My husband is adamant that I have a RN job and insurance before we try. If the situation were different I would be 100% okay with that, but it is not. Given my criminal history, I am anticipating licensure will be delayed, if given at all, and I will most likely not have a final answer for a year, making me 28. He doesn't want to try until I am a RN with a job and insurance...what if that never happens? Let's be real here, it is a possibility. We are financially stable now, he has a great job which provides both of us with insurance. Why can't we try to get pregnant when I only have a few months of school left, that way, if my license get denied, at least one dream will come true?? Please offer some advice, maybe I am not seeing this correctly... Please, please help!

Don't lose hope! As long as you send in the appropriate documentation I would think the state would give your application a chance. Beef up the statements and documentation and give them the best stuff you can. I wish you the best!

Well this depends. When you mention the application, you said facility so Im guessing you applied for employment? If you are in a CNA program and have to apply for licensure you will most likely need to disclose the conviction if asked on the application because your state will see any and all convictions no matter your age when convicted. Also, depending on the background check company and if state or federal based, they will be able to see a juvenile conviction. I am 100% sure because I have a juvenile conviction and I thought it was hidden but it WAS NOT. What I would do first is run a background check on yourself or go to the courthouse you went to for the proceedings. Ask to get your record there so you know what it is and the actual conviction, or if the conviction was set aside you will learn that too when you do that. In the meantime, you can look into getting this expunged as I would HIGHLY recommend. You would legally be able to say you were never convicted of a crime. Best of luck to you! Personally, seeing that you were young and this was quite a few years old, I do not see issues with licensure, however it may be a problem when applying for a job. Like I said, my juvenile conviction came up on a background check for every long term care/assisted living home/hospital that I have ever applied to, thus it is SO important to get it expunged. I am in the same boat and feel so ashamed of my past and I'm at the point where only a couple people in this world know about my record. Thanks for giving tips for those in the same situation.
