First nursing job with stipulations on license and felony

Nurses Criminal

Published

I was recently issued my nursing license from the state of Texas with stipulations. The stipulations where imposed due to a felony charge that I had from 1998. I was not convicted but instead, received a withhold of adjudication. I have read other posts from people in the same situation with regards to obtaining licensure.

My question, as it relates to the current stage I am in: Where you able to obtain employment with the stipulations on your license?

Also, I have noticed that some institutions specifically mention that sealed or expunged records do not need to be disclosed to the institution. Has anyone been through this and sealed their record before applying to the hospitals? Legally a sealed record does not need to be disclosed in most situations.

I believe the ideal situation would be to disclose everything fully and still obtain a job. But, in a competitive job market, employers are looking first to eliminate applicants and answering yes to certain questions would most likely get you purged.

I've worked really hard to get to this point and I'm hoping just to get past this last hurdle. I know others have walked this path and hopefully have succeeded, any advice and reassurance would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to me that even if you get it sealed or expunged, once a potential employer sees that your license has stipulations, they are going to want an explanation of why.

What's the stipulation

Yes that's true, I have no problem explaining it if need be. I would just prefer to do that in an interview setting where I can at least make an impression.

What's the stipulation

There where several but they don't limit my ability to perform the job. They include taking a course in ethics within the first year, working at least 64 hours per month, disclosing the stipulations to the employer, the employer filling out a form quarterly, having a supervisor that I can call if I need them, so nothing that seems to require any special accommodations.

So there's no one out there that has gone through this?

Hell on wheels going through can't get a job if I worked for free.

This is going to be a difficult road especially in this work environment.

You do have stipulations and need special accommodations. The employer has to fill out a form quarterly for you that they don't have to fill out for anyone else. A supervisor that needs to be on call/available to you if you need them. Taking them away from their usual duties.

These are special accommodations.

You have a rough road ahead....how can you "prove" to an employer that you have made amends/changed and that you are an asset to their facility?
