DUI in Missouri, can I still get my license?

I received a DUI about 7 years ago at the age of 22. I graduate nursing school in December of this year and was looking for a little info if anyone else has had this problem. I know every state is different and every case is handled differently. I just want to know if any other nurses in MO have received their license with a DUI and what they had to do above and beyond to get it (hire a lawyer, go before the BON, ect....). Any info would be greatly appreciated so that I can prepare myself for the process.

Your best bet is to contact the BON and be upfront and honest. They will be able to give you a lot better information pertaining to your situation. I know two nurses who have gotten their licenses who had had DUIs in the past... So don't lose hope. You don't need to mention your name to the BON if you don't want to.. Just ask your questions.

i don't know about missouri, but here in nevada, one dui would not keep you from getting a nursing license. if you are an rn and were on call or on your way to work and arrested for dui, that is a definite violation of the nurse practice act, and your licence could be disciplined

You all are great, thank you so much! I will contact the BON tomorrow. I have my NCLEX paperwork and it says to include documentation of AA, inpatient rehab records, and discharge summaries, I never did any of that, just the SATOP classes and probation so I'm hoping that is all I need other than the actual court doc's.
