Nurses Criminal

Published

Long story short, in 2011 I was arrested three times for misdemeanour drug convictions in the state of California. Yes , I had a substance abuse problem but I received full 90 day treatment and I have been sober since. All three arrests occurred within three months. Basically , I hit rock bottom and had to get help as soon as possible. I left the state of California to go to treatment in Florida. I am from Texas , so when I completed treatment I went straight home to Texas. There was nothing left for me in California. Yes , I left the state with warrants but I feel that I did the right thing by getting treatment ASAP. I was young and dumb, but I got help and have been on a righteous path since. I have wanted to pursue nursing for so long, but I'm worried that these charges could hold me back. I am very serious about nursing and I'm ready to peruse my dream but I have this burden hanging over my head. I can't so anything about the warrants in California at the moment. I am working and saving and when the time comes , ill deal with it. I would like to start with the Lvn program. If anyone has any helpful information or advice , PLEASE share. I would greatly appreciate it! I am not sure who to turn to at this point regarding my situation.

check with the BON in Texas, but, in my opinion, I woud take care of the CA warrants as they are just hanging over your head, and I would imagine they will be discovered with your required background checks. AND the fingerprint check should definately show them up and you could have issues.

Also, you might want to reconsider being exposed to drugs on a daily basis if you have a history of drug/substance abuse. Sometimes the temptations can win, then you will be in a real mess...
