Cna on hold

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi everyone. I'm starting to feel discouraged. I'm currently a prenursing student who just completed a CNA course with an A. Almost 6 years ago my aunt passed away and some of my ex friends kept calling me concerning drama. Mind you I was trying to be there for my mother and younger cousins who just lost an important person. Fast forward to a week later One of the girls and I got into a verbal argument over the computer. Nothing else was said after that day. Two days before Christmas my car was rear ended and as the cop was taking my information he came across two warrants for my arrest. I was arrested and saw a magistrate that same day. I didn't have to pay a bond because I told the magistrate what happened and that I had no knowledge of the warrants. The case went to trial and it was dropped from 2 class 6 felonies (threat/death by bodily harm) to 2 misdemeanors profane language/threat over public airway. The person who pressed the charges on me tried to have them dropped after she found out I could possibly go to jail over an argument gone too far but the prosecutor decided to charge me still. I have stayed out of trouble, paid court costs, and have not contacted her since then. I was scheduled to take my state exam this Saturday to become certified but was advised it has to go under a review process. I'm starting to feel discouraged because I have turned my life around, started a family, and currently about to graduate with an Associate degree in science while finishing my prereqs for the BSN program here. My gpa is 3.5 by the way. Any advice or words of encouragement would be helpful.

Allnurses users can't offer legal advice, per TOS.

That being said....GET A LAWYER as soon as possible. Not just your generic, walk-in style attorney. Get one with experience in defending folks before your state's Board of Nursing.

See taana.org for that type of hopefully helpful folks.

Good Luck!
