Am I Crazy For Trying

Everyone around me is starting to think I am crazy for trying to follow my calling to become a nurse. I have a criminal history, some of which I have had expunged and sealed, however I have recieved my background check from the place my school suggested I get one from and I came back with several hits for misdomeaners. I have 5 hot checks totaling less than $100.00, theft of property under $20.00, domestic battery III, and possesion of marijuana, as well as a failure to appear and driving on suspended liscense. All of these charges stem from 1998-2000. No instances since. I know this all sounds bad and it is up to the board to determine if I am able to obtain my liscense, but am I crazy trying to do what I know I am called to do with my record. Not all people grow up in the same enviornmnt and go therough the same things. What I have been trough has made me a better and more resonsible person. I went from being homeless and hopeless to having a wonderful family and being very hopefull that a bad past is not going to keep me from being the nurse I want to be. Can anyone offer any thoughts?
I know how it looks on paper and it's not good, but all these chargers are 10+ years old and people do change. Thank you all for your help.
