Moving to San Diego - tuition reimbursement?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi everyone -

I am moving from Chicago to San Diego for the family nurse practitioner program at the University of San Diego - awesome! My number one concern is how I will be able to afford to pay for school. Other than loans, I have applied for scholarships and am looking for an RN position at whichever hospital offers the most tuition reimbursement. I've done a little research and found that no reimbursement is offered at UCSD (kind of crazy since they are a university hospital!), Scripps covers up to 1,500$ a year, and waiting to hear back from Sharp. This information may be outdated, so please let me know if I am wrong!

If you currently work at another San Diego hospital, do you know how much your tuition reimbursement is for?

Also, as a completely different question.. Which hospital is the best to work at? I've heard great things about all three health systems, but am sure there are other smaller community hospitals as well (I've worked in a community hospital in the past and LOVED it, now working at a huge university hospital and not loving it so much..)

Thanks!

Katie
