Charleston, SC new grad

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello! This is my first post on this website, and hope I am following the post rules appropriately. Many of you have helped me get through nursing school by me reading others posts, so thank you for that.

I will be graduating with an associates in a couple of weeks in NJ. I really want to relocate to South Carolina, specifically the Charleston area. I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience on what the job availability is like right now for a new grad in that area?

Also, on a second note (not sure if this belongs here) should I get my NJ license and then apply for my license through endorsement through SC? Or should I just try to get my SC license from the start? The latter seems to be a little more complicated, but I don't want to be in NJ for another winter waiting on my SC license!!

I hope my questions were clear, and I appreciate your time.

MUSC hospital is a great place to start as a new grad. That was my first nursing job & I learned a lot. They have specific "new grad RN" postings. And back when I was a nurse there, you would have "new grad meetings" where you could share your experiences with other new grad nurses. If you know you're moving to SC, I would just get your SC license for now. Enjoy Charleston! I love it there!
