Hello all,

I will be applying to Walden University for their Nursing Informatics Program. Anybody in this forum has applied for this program at Walden? Or any current/former NI students at Walden? I would love to hear some feedback about the program, clinicals, and any other feedback/advice that will be helpful to me. Thank you in advance!! :)

I am getting ready to finish the NI program through Walden. I have not had any trouble with taking 2 classes at a time for the most part. You can also take one at a time- it will just take longer. They switched from semester based 8 week classes to quarter based 12 week classes I believe in September of 2012. I started in December of 2012. So there was some growing pains as some of the instructors had not taught the 12 week classes before. Overall I have had a good experience.

What is the difference between Nursing Informatics and Health Informatics?

Hello,

I am new to allnurses. Was hoping this thread would provide me with some resolve. I am an MSN student at Walden Univ., with a specialization is nursing informatics, and I need a practicum site ASAP. Does anyone know of any GA healthcare organizations that would be able to accommodate my need?

I attended Walden University for MSN-NI... I'm currently in the DNP program that will be starting in June 2015. I have nothing bad to say about the program. Yes you must look early for your preceptors. For those that are looking for NI preceptor look at hospitals look for those that are in clinical optimization or training for EHR programs(the field of NI is diverse you will find that they have many roles). The health department that would also be a good as they collect various data...have databases are always working on initiatives within the community. Also check with those that are involved with project management. I'm in the quarter based DNP program. I have already connected with someone working at health department HQ.

Great to read from you all. I just got accepted to Walden University-Nursing Informatics. Did not know what to expect, but reading your comments has cleared my worries. Please is it just discussions or multiple questions every week?

You switched from FNP? I am thinking of either doing family or informatics? How is the job outlook? Thanks and Good luck with the rest of the classes!
