I am a travel RN and have been toying with this idea myself. Can any nursing informatics people tell me if I can still travel doing this? Can I still take a stipend? The only thing is that I travel with a dog, so a stipend would be easier.

I took this job. It has been a challenge, to say the least. I was thrown in with no training. I have made embarrassing mistakes, given misinformation on how to do things, and there doesn't seem to be a real "true" way to do a lot of things...lots of gray area. I feel like I am in way over my head. I have asked to travel to other sites in an effort to glean knowledge and information. This request was denied, as I may see what other sites are doing and have the same expectation for my site (???)
I am flying by the seat of my pants.
My job has a physician focus, not nursing. Therefore, the informaticists on my team are unaware of what I do. They have their role and I have mine.
