Anyone familiar with Epic?

I have a possible job opportunity and I'm trying to decide what to do. A major hospital system in my area is getting ready to convert to Epic and is hiring analysts and trainers. I'm probably giving away too much info, but whatever.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this product and/or company what you think?

i have been working with epic for 3 years. it is the cadillac of emr systems. once you have experience with epic, you can write your own ticket as far as jobs are concerned. if you like to travel and are able to, consultants can earn double or triple what is earned in bedside nursing. if you are lucky enough to get certified in a specific application, consulting firms will be clamoring to represent you and place you in various facilities as a builder or a trainer. i was a floor nurse for 26 years and can honestly say i don't miss it. best career move i ever made. :smokin:

EMR*LPN, could you give me more information on consulting firms who would be willing to work with me. I'm certified in Inpatient and know the Stork application.

EMR*LPN

Can you give me any information about the assessment tool EPIC uses? Do most people pass?

Specializes in CCU/ER.

We have had EPIC for over 6 months now and the capacity for documentation is great HOWEVER, the learning curve is immense! For our facility, the admin decided that the nurses only needed to know nursing stuff and the docs needed to know their stuff - BIG mistake ! When we rolled it out, we lost that collaborative feel. We couldn't put in orders if we wanted ~ So, my advice to you - make sure that the education is a MAIN part of your job and include ALL learners from CNAs to MDs - that way, in a code or emergent situation, your CNA could look up the chart while you are getting medications ready or whatever - it certainly would make for a MUCH better working environment ~Good luck with your decision!
