where to work? (Asian or MMC?)

World Philippines

Published

Hi everyone.... Well I'm currently thinking of where to work.

My first option is Makati Medical Center. I graduated in that institution and our school is always the priority when it comes to hiring nurses there. I know the place, know the benefits (that only MMC offers), seminars, training, experiences, some of the staff and the facilities. Travel is the least problem. I want to be in the ICU, OR or Kidney unit. Sad to say, 100% I wont be able to go to ICU because my brother is already working there. Relatives can't work in the same area. And my cousin also wants to work in the ICU. Same hospital, lucky for her, she has different lastname although her mom is known in the OR and ICU as a CI and the aunt of one of the staff. I want to work in that area too...

The my second option is Asian Hospital. I don't know anything about this instituation. New faces, just few minutes away from my house, new facilities, I don't know if they offer free seminars and training like MMC. I also dont know the benefits. In short, I have to start from scratch! The only difference is, I can work in the ICU if ever I'll be assign there.

I really need advice, suggestions, comments or any information..... Thank you...

Thank you for this response lenjoy. I planned to call the office today but something else came up. I hope I get accepted in MMC and hope to see you there. I just heard that the priority is given to your graduates which is but natural and understandable. But I am hoping that they will consider my application. Currently, I lack the good moral character. I meant the certificate. I have a clean record. Hehehe

Regarding the board certificate and board rating: I already have a copy of the Certificate of Passing which includes my rating. But i also have a copy of the breakdown of my grades in the board exam. I got both in PRC (and never intended the documents to be mailed to me). You know how it is in our beloved country. Hehehe. :lol2: I guess i just have to photocopy and submit both.

Your welcome! Don't lose hope! Even if the graduates from my school are the priorities, it doesn't mean others be rejected! Even if your a newly grad or been graduate for many years now, its not the age that counts! It's how act as a nurse and the skills learned!

If MMC is really for you, no matter what happens, you'll get in! Just pray! Hope to meet you there!!!!

P.S.

You better apply for good moral certificate in your school! I think it would take sometime before you can get it... My school gives the good moral cert. from the Dean't office a week after you request for it... In the guidance office, just 1 day! We're only 186 in our batch and it took us that long! What more in bigger population!

Lol on Good Moral Certificate. Yeah, i do understand. Sometimes i wonder why some papers that are easy to process (one just has to type in the name of the student, and modify the date, then print), take so much time. That's the Philippines. I love it, but you know, it has its weaknesses. Hehe.

Hi! I am also a newly board passer of NLE 2007. Wow, it's really good to hear that you can work directly now. It's a good thing you don't have to wait for a long time again.Good luck to you!!! We can do it!

If your school is affiliated to reputable hospital that affiliates only one nursing school, then you have an edge when it comes to applying especially if your a product of that hospital...

Just made up my mind... I better go ahead with MMC. I was informed by a friend this everning after our thanksgiving party sponsored by the school that it has a direct hiring when a nurse came to our school. No need to wait... I dont know if this is applicable to other schools. I dont need an IV therapy, BLS or ALS license to get in because they offer it to their nurses for free...

Hi Yah

BEST decision you go girl thats a real RTR

Lots of Aloha

Hi, Lenjoy! What is the name of your school? I'm just curious what is MMC's affiliated school.

Anyway, I called the training office of your hospital to ask a thing or two about the requirements. The one who answered was kind of snobbish, though. She asked me to go to the office and browse their brochure.

They should hire a secretary who is accommodating and patient. Right now, I'm in the province. It's a good thing I already have the list you gave me beforehand. Imagine if I'm an applicant coming from a far-flung place and the other person on the line asks me to go to the office just to read the brochure. I regret not being assertive enough. Whatever her reason is (unless she's in a matter of life or death situation), it is not justifiable.

Thank you again for the list.

I'm not really sure about the exact definition between board rating and board certificate.

Board rating, its just an informal way to determine your grades in the board exam written in the paper given by the guard in PRC

Board certificate is yellow form given in PRC to be send in our houses. Its more of the formal way to present your grades and to really certify that you did passed the board exam... Well not really sure if I defined it correctly.

I'm just wondering where our money went. I thought sending this certificate via snailmail is already included on the P900 we paid when we applied for the board exam! (quote)

IF i may correct.. the board rating contain your scores in the 5 part test..you can request it in PRC office but if you are willing to wait...the prc will send you the original board rating through snailmail...a Board certificate on the other hand is a certificate given to all professionals that pass the licensure...it looks like a diploma, it must be claim personally at prc office, sometime or months after you has registered for the license..prc announces if it is already available for release... hope this explanation helps!

hello, LIEU!

I have a copy of the breakdown of grades from PRC. It is handwritten on a 1/4 sheet of bond paper. Is that the only board rating that they give?

I also have with me a certificate entitled: Certification of Passing/Failure which indicates that i passed. It also contains my average grade. It is printed on a whole sheet of white paper and has a meter stamp on the side. Is this the Board Certificate?

Thanks in advance.

My school? Its RTRMS-MMC. Ok the meaning.. Remedios T. Romualdez Memorial Schools-Makati Medical Center. Its the only nursing school affiliated with MMC. many nursing schools have tried to affiliate in MMC, but was rejected. Actually we're just a wall away from MMC. hehehe.... We really dont know what to call each other because like UST, they call each other Thomasians, or la salle, lasalista.. We just call each other Artista! Just kidding! We call each other RTR! Very unique huh? Ok here's a hint! Have you seen a student in makati wearing gray one piece uniform, doll shoes and black stackings? That's our uniform!

Regarding the training office.. Well they do have a secretary. ACtually I'm not sure if she's the secretary. I think she's a clerk or something. Sad to say, sometimes people there in the training area are rude! Yup! Don't worry, your not the only one who experienced that. I think the head of the training was my sister's former classmate, she was also my prof. hehehe.. small world!

So far, the requirements I gave are the only papers they required! You can photocopy all your requirements then put it in a folder. They have a drop box there. You can just drop it! But not now! They're not open for hiring yet... I think they'll open it after the oath taking or after registration....

Thanks again, Lenjoy.

It's an advantage that you are the only affiliate school with MMC.

Go RTR! Lol
