Anyone here worked at PGH before? Looks like they're hiring. While waiting out the retrogression, might as well, right?

Hi!

Been following this thread for a long time. Just want to share my experience with the PGH process. I had my Nsg Proficiency exams Sept 2009; panel interview Feb 2010, and*my final interview with Deputy Director for Nursing last May 2011.

Yesterday, got a call from HRD that I have to process my medical exams this week for possible deployment by January 2012.

Been a long wait for me and I'm in a dilemma of leaving my work and friends. Life-changing decision to be made.

"Patience is a virtue." INDEED!

congrats! just what the interviewer told us, PGH IS WORTH THE WAIT :)

Hi! The Dean's forms for the next batch of APCN trainees were released last November 28. The qualifying exam is scheduled on February 1. But, I'm not quite sure when will the training start.

If you want to apply for the said program, you have to wait for months until they release the next set of dean's form.

no prob! :) Just try to update yourself as early as possible.. the threads in this forum really helped. In our case, the staff who accommodated us mentioned that they release the Dean's form few months before the start of the program. This provides ample time for the applicants to process their requirements. I guess the upcoming batch will start on mid-February.

Very nice thread, thanks for all the info here.

By the way the result of our december 2011 board will be this coming february, can I know if i can still apply for the next APCN??? and when would it be? thanks in advance...

Hi there!

Good thing there's a thread about this. :)

I have passed the NPE last Oct 2011 and was only able to pass my requirements this morning.

The man told me to go to Ms. **** together with my application form and a slip addressed to Ms. *** (Ok for panel interview). He also told me to probably alot about 3hrs for there are a lot of forms to fill up. I'll be coming back this week for an earlier time. I just wonder, 3 hrs is quite a long time just to fill up forms. Does that mean I'll be up for the panel interview on that same day?

And what would they possibly ask during the panel interview? I've read in the previous threads that graduates form UP, PLM, St. Paul were not asked anything but personal questions. How about for those who are not graduate from those schools? What questions would they possibly ask? Can someone please enlighten me. I'm quite nervous about this since this will be my first interview.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the infos! :)

@Rabuscar: I also passed the NPE last October 28, 2011, and have submitted the requirements 2 weeks after the results were posted. I was then referred to a lady assigned at the Nursing Director Office to get a schedule for a Panel Interview. I have been scheduled tentatively this coming month. :) Its good to know that we are in the same batch. It's nice to know someone who's going with the same process. May I have your email address?

I PM-ed you already, however you haven't reached the required number of posts, yet. I don't know if you'll receive my message. Thanks and God bless.

Who took the NPE yesterday at 10am? :D Which set did you get?

hi! i am scheduled for the npe this march.. please kindly give me some tips..at where area/ topic shall i focus on my review? i am so nervous and unsure about this. i've been an RN since 2008 and never did i have the chance to work in a hospital. it feels like i forgot all about nursing. please give me some help... thank you very much! God bless!

Hi there! Just got home from PGH and found out that they are on continuous hiring for nurse/nursing attendant positions. First, you should get an application form and a request form to pay an NPE fee for 200 php. Complete your application form together with the receipt and a photocopy of your prc license as well.

I'm scheduled to take an exam on January 21, 2012 1pm at the ERC (emergency room conference, just go there right after your application, it's on the right side of the main building, near the bloodbank/laboratory, pass through it and there you go. ) Mortality rate is 85-90%, the guy nurse who accommodated us told that we should be focusing on FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING. not on MS, pedia, chn, etc... He said that the exam is really BASIC but these basic stuffs were usually the one overlooked by nurses. After you pass the NPE, all things will easily fall into it's places if you do your best. They said that it is for manpooling purposes, if you pass, you should wait for 2-3 years to be deployed. If you are a UP-PGH nursing graduate, priority will be given for you upon passing he NPE exam ( they usually wait for 7-8 months to be deployed). Someone told me that there is backer system there but it doesn't give you an assurance to be employed as a staff nurse. Instead, i just hasten your deployment process..

about the reuirements, just bring 200 php, photocopy of prc license and accomplished application form...no more other requirements. Study hard! :)

About the APCN training program of PGH, you should go there at nov 28 a 9am in the morning to get a dean's form that is to be signed by your university coordinator. A staff nurse told me that we should be really patient to get a dean's form... there are few applicants who went there at 10pm the night before the release of the dean's form just to have it... after the release of the dean's form, there are still more requirements to be posted.:smokin:
