Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

The White Wizard & martian to put a link on your name, all you need to do is highlight the name at the top of the person's reply (next to the time) and then copy and paste it to the comment box. Wow, how high is your board rating The White Wizard? Were you a topnotcher? :D One more thing, what year & month did you take the board exam?

PS: I sent you a private message. Please read it. Thank you.

mikeru22 oh so it's just that easy X) hahahah thanks a lot

Hi guys! Hope that I'll get all the answers that I need here. :) I will be more than thankful.

I'm planning to apply as a staff nurse in Makati Med. I'm aware about the CETN but I'm not sure if it's still ongoing. Is it?

I'm a July, 2011 passer. I got a high rating, a Cum Laude from a known school, but I don't have any experience. This will be my first one if ever.

Do they consider applicants without any experience as a Nurse? Do they have height reqs? Thank you guys and God bless!

Ooops. I just learned that they call the program COPN now. Would you mind telling me the process? I really am ignorant about the process that they have in MMC.

I tried to search for some info, I got nothing. I think this is the best place to have my questions answered. Pleaseeeeee...Thanks! :)

I passed my resume twice already - last oct and this february. Have they seen/evaluate all the resumes fairly? :(( I believe that I'm competent for the training. Do I need to pass again?

WHOOO!Just received an SMS from them this afternoon, I'm scheduled for the final interview this Friday!!! XDOur internet at home doesn't work at the moment, so I can't check allnurses.com until tomorrow afternoon...But please give me any tips and advice. ^^Please do pray for me...
Yo The White Wizard! How was the final interview? Did they gave you an idea when would be their next call if you're in for the training? I was scheduled for exams and initial interview last may 23 and was waiting (and hoping) that they'd contact me for the final interview. Thanks in advance for the reply :D

Sorry for the late reply, our internet connection at home is still broken and I'm in an internet cafe right now.

So this is what happened at the final interview:

The person who interviewed me was a head nurse, the questions were situational, then she'll only ask "What will be your responsibilities?" So you'll have to give all that you remember for that particular scenario.

But she also asked some questions like: Tell me about yourself, Why should we hire you?, etc.

After the interview she instructed me to wait for them to contact me. Actually I hate hearing those words, it's so full of uncertainty.

But I waited for the applicant who were interviewed after me and the instructions to her were the same as mine. I also asked them if there's already a tentative date for the start of the training, but they said there isn't yet.

The interviewer was very warm and she spoke in Taglish, so I also answered in Taglish, the interview was also not too formal. In fact before I sat down for the interview, she said (In Tagalog): "We can be not too formal here, I'm tired of speaking in English, it gives me epistaxis!"

There are rumors that the Final Interview is just for "formality", but I don't know, I really hope so. I mean my papers are already in the nursing training office and there's also a printout of all the important information about me and results of my exams, personality, etc.

But I still did my best, and I hope and pray it was good enough.:D

The thing that worries me right now is that they didn't mention anything about the physical exam.

Hi [COLOR=#003366]nurse_jhim!

Yes, fortunately they do. There are also rumors that they prefer fresh board passers (like me, no hospital work/volunteer experience at all).

Wow. :D Thanks for sharing your experiences in the interview White Wiz :D Have faith, your almost there. Thanks for your private messages as well hehe.

Wow! Thanks for the info.

Do they require an applicant to have ivt and bls training?

And also, since I'm not that tall... Is there any height requirement? Thanks! :)

@White Wiz..

I hope you won't mind but can you tell me the process? Like how did you pass your application, where to go, and what to pass? Thank youuuuuuu! :)
