Hospitals hiring here in the philippines and accepting for voulunteers

Hi i am a licensed nurse here in the Phi. I just graduated last year and passed the June 2009 board exam.. I am looking for a job in the hospitals but most of the hospitals are freeze hiring and for manpower pooling..what does it mean? does it mean that I have to wait for 6-7 months before i could have a job as a nurse? I thought that after graduating and passing the board exam..the opportunities are much higher than i expected.. but it was wrong..it was really hard to find a job and land in the field that you graduated..I wanna know what hospital can i have a training or even volunteer works? Is there any hospitals who are accepting applicants right now? I want to work, but where should i start? how many months, years, do i need to wait for me to land in the business that i graduated to...? hayyyy..hoping for a reply from all of you...

How I wish it's as easy as that. I felt the same thing, too. I was in high hopes, "choosy" of the hospital to apply for, as if waiting for the opportunity to knock on my door.

Here are things you might want to consider:

1. grab a slot for BLS offered by Red Cross asap. This is one prerequisite most hospitals require. Get a slot for IVT too. Do you have these? If you have, good.

2.Don't be afraid to go to the big hospitals. I believe they are open for fresh grads. A prof of mine said it's also favored because fresh grads have a clean slate and thus can be trained. If you have the time and money, personally visit hospitals because some say that even if they say on the phone that they are freeze hiring, they might consider your paper...

3. Polish your skills by enrolling in trainings! Even if it would not be credited abroad, the confidence and familiarity it can give you may prepare your competence. If you have extra cash, take ACLS training.

4. Follow-up with the hospital every two or three mos so they can see your interest in their institution. As for volunteer service, it's practical to apply in hosp within your city so you wouldn't spend much on transportation.

5. Consider special fields like dialysis or ICU nursing and take trainings for your chosen field.

wow thanks for the nice advise...it is a big help for me who is currently underemployed.. I am trying to look for hospitals now who are conducting training, unfortunately for the ivt training the nearest hospital is phc and it is still on april. hmmmm...

Yeah, IVT slots are filled up quite fast. Believe it or not I got my training from a nearby province because all slots around Manila were taken and I had to wait for five months before they open up again. So I sacrificed a few days of waking up really early, anyway it's just a week. At least I obtained the IVT. But I'm not telling you to do the same, ok? It's entirely up to you guys. And IVT is just one of the many requirements. BLS is another. Make sure you also have a copy of your transcript (TOR) and board rating, passing. These are basic requirements of hospitals. Don't lose hope. God bless us! :)

Aquinas University Hospital is currently open for their Holistic Care Training Program (HCTP) 5th Batch.. Training is 3 months long. They offer free meals during training. Training includes ICU, OR, ER, and General Ward hands on Exposures..

sad to say, but it can take YEARS. I graduated and passed the board last 2008, but I'm still unemployed. :crying2:

Anyway, Quirino Memorial Medical Center is accepting trainees now. I went there last week and was scheduled for a qualifying exam on April. Requirements are: TOR, diploma, PRC license, NBI, PRC rating and 2x2 ID pic

Lung Center is also accepting trainees for their BST but you would have to pay P6,500 for it.

For Quirino Memorial Medical Center, the training is 2 or 3 months. ( i'm not sure) But you need to pay 1,000 per month for the said training. I called them yesterday, and they said that we can pass the requirements on Tuesdays / Fridays. For the requirements, we also need to pass an application letter addressed to the chief.:):):)

isn't it that QMMC also requires you to pay a training fee worth 1000php per month?! anyways, i will try to apply maybe by tomorrow. any suggestions of hospitals who are freeze hiring but in fact accepts requirements as of the moment?! thanks and hey, to the new passers, welcome to the world of nursing! :)
