hi. does anyone here have tried applying in afp medical center for rn residency this is a six months training. i just want to ask if they have physical requirement to those aspiring applicant? what if you are wearing eyeglasses can you still apply? because as what i've read on the other post they prefer those who are not wearing eyeglasses.

thank you in advance to those who will reply.

ilovetiggerbear: thank you very much for your help. i also dont know someone in th inside or i have backer, Hope I cna make it like you although there is only a little chance.. In skills exam, are there stills applicants who failed? thank you

ilovetigerdear: thanks again for the reply! good for you, at least your learning a lot! congrats! I'm planning to apply.. but from what Ive learned there's no more schedule for the qualifying exam, so maybe next time/batch, that could probably be early next year. By the way, you have mentioned that you're assigned in a toxic area, so most likely in a specialized one, so that lead me to ask you another question (sorry for that, just curious) .Does everyone get the chance to be rotated? Or it could be,one is set to stay in 1 area of assignment until completion of 6 months?

Thanks.

where could i find this hospital? address pls, thnx!

V.Luna Road, Quezon City

From QC City Hall/QC Circle, take a jeep going to Anonas then asked to be drop you off V.Luna Hospital/AFP Medical Center. Or alternately, you can take the Cubao-Kalayaan jeep then ask to drop you at V. Luna Road, you will see a Jolibee store then opposite of that is a white wall (that's the AFPMC's perimeter wall) just walk until you reach the gate then thats it.

hello.

to ilovetiggerdear: how many months is the training? what comes next after that? will you get hired? thank you!

During our batch, no one failed during the skills test. Although they kept warning us to do well or else we will be disqualified for the program. But no one got kicked out.

I was assigned in a special area for the first 2 months of my rotation. My second rotation is just in the ward but it just so happened that we had a lot of admissions that were intubated and placed in our "ICU". Most if not all of the wards in V.Luna have mini or pseudo ICU's where they place the toxic patients (meaning with IV, IFC, T-piece, NGT, ET, tracheostomy and the like). It's more or less the same setting as the ICU only with no air conditioning and less equipments (patients share the use of pulse oximeter and/or suction machine but of course w/ diff suction tips! Hehe)

During the exam we were asked to write the top 3 areas where we would like to be assigned. Interview time came and we were asked to explain why we chose those areas. The head nurses of the diff areas will be the one to conduct the interview. You have to convince them to place you in your chosen ward/area. But take note, not everyone who placed for ex ICU as their choice wil be given a chance to rotate there. I'm not so sure but if you were assigned to these special areas like MICU, SICU, PACU and PEDIA you will be staying there permanently for 6 months. Some were assigned to NICU, ER and DIALYSIS ?? but were also rotated to another ward. Oh and by the way there will be only 3-4 persons per area.

Exams for the next batch might probably start by September or October so you have to go there to list your names 1 month earlier.

Re employment after the training, as always, there's definitely no guarantee unless you know someone (who has a high position) from the inside. They had an exam for the employment of civilian nurses last May 29 but not all of us were given the chance to sit down for that. Only those lucky ones were informed.

i'm a little confused.. is this AFP medical center connected to the nurse corps that was included in the previous job fair held at Luneta? I was planning to apply but don't know where am i really going. I got this brochure from the said event and this is for nurse corps.. i believe this isnt hospital based, though there is a 6 month training at V Luna. Hoping for a reply.

AFPMC RN residency is different for the the nurse corps. It is a volunteer nurse position for civilian nurses. Whereas the the nurse corps (when you pass) is for military nursing.

For the Nurse corps, you can go to Bulwagang Valdez at Camp Aguinaldo to apply.
