Hi all,

I'm thinking of moving into a new area of nursing through Home and Community Care, Hospital Liaison. I've been working in LTC and Hospice for the last 6 years.

I've tried doing some research on the role, but most of the info is American, and their role is a marketing role.

So, are any of you a Hospital Liaison Nurse working with acute hospitals and/or LTC? What does your job look like, and do you enjoy it?

Honestly, never heard of this role.

home care co-ordinations work out of hospitals or the homecare offices.

LTC placement is done through its own offices as well.

There are private facilities who hire nurses to do tours and try and get you to place your mum and dad with them, sort of director of care/admissions role. Met an LPN who did in several assisted living facilities when they were opening up. Soon as the place was full and a wait list established, she was terminated.

I haven't heard of the term either, does BC use the term liason in place of coordinator?
