You know you're a nurse if...
You've been telling stories in a restaurant and had someone at another table throw up.

My pt had a seriously epic, award-winning code brown incident. Afterwards, I told the nurses on my floor about it. Cue laughter. Later told my classmates in nursing school about it. Cue laughter. Later started telling a non-nursing friend, and got maybe three words in before she covered her ears and went "stop it stop it stop it! oh my god, what is WRONG with you?!"
Totally agree with that one! Nurse friends can discuss these things over meals... other people, may not want to hear them at all! LOL:sarcastic:

They are a use as required stock item not grab a handful and pop in my pocket thing. I'd get my ass blasted if that happened.

You know you're a NICU nurse when you cross-train a PICU nurse and say, "..and we have baby X, who is very old..." "How old?" "About 4 months" and the PICU RN bursts out laughing...Kudos to you peds and adult nurses. I have no idea what I would do with anything that big.

Kudos right back at ya! I don't know what to do with anything younger than 30! I turn into a complete idiot when asked something about babies/kids! Lol. I had a family member have a baby that had to go to the NICU, and they were asking me questions in front of the NICU nurse, she asks me "are you in the medical field too?" My reply was " yes, I've been a nurse for 12 years, but I know NOTHING when it comes to things this small!" I'll stick with my adult/geriatric peeps! But God bless all you NICU nurses! Things that small terrify me!! Ha!

When you go around and say, "I lost my brain!!!!" (and you are referring to your brain sheet )
Or say things like, "That guy in 2? Yeah, I blew him twice."

You know you are a nurse when you can run down the hall at work yelling "save the poo" and NO ONE looks at you like you are crazy

When you're at a crowded restaurant with your daughters, one of whom is about to have her first gynecological appt, and she makes the mistake of asking what it will be like. You pull a disposable speculum out of your purse and procede to explain everything in great detail with included hand gestures, while she tries to disappear under the table.
-My mom did this. She was an RN studying to be a midwife and they sent them home with speculum's so that they could practice the motion. Now I'm getting ready to finish LPN school and I totally get it now. We keep grossing out the family at the dinner table swapping stories. LOL.

Got a new one-
Remember that I work on a unit, where isolation gowns are NOT kept near the patients room for safety reasons
When you willing run into a room of a patient in Isolation for CDIFF without PPE to keep said patient from falling.
