fun things to do in the recovery room

1.when they wake up, speak a foriegn language

2.get them dressed and put them in a chair in the hall

3.speak to them without using your voice

4.seriously ask them the same question, over and over

5.when they speak, put your hands over your ears, wince, and ask them to stop shouting

6.pretend, when they speak, you can't hear them

7.before they wake up, put them in the mop closet with the lights off

8.white robes and harps, need we say more?

You're just tooooooooo funny!!!! Thanks for providing me with a good reason to laugh so hard that my dogs look at me like they might need to "mop up after me" for a change. With your permission, I'd like to print your posts from this section to share with my co-workers. Nursing is a stressful job and we have to find humor sometimes or it will be just overwhelming. Please keep posting, laughter is a great stress relief and lately I've really needed a little relief. God Bless!!!!

I'm scheduled for major surgery in a few weeks. I am trying to think if there is a way I can "pull off" any of these on MY nurses! :rotfl:

One of the post op areas I was in had a large "Welcome Back!" sign hanging on the ceiling over my gurney... it made me feel good to know that people were thinking about me after I woke up from a very painful surgery :)

I'm scheduled for major surgery in a few weeks. I am trying to think if there is a way I can "pull off" any of these on MY nurses! :rotfl:

A while back, I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee. I was pretty loopy when I woke up in PACU, and apparently I thought it would be hilarious to say (after the nurse pulled back the covers to show me the bandaged op site), "they were supposed to operate on the OTHER knee!" She turned white, and I said, "Just kidding!" Understandably, she failed to see the humor in that. When I came out of my stupor, I apologized profusely.

Now that I'm an RN myself, I suppose it's just a matter of time until karma catches up with me...

When I get a guy in my recovery room, and he seems to have a sense of humor I say "It's a girl!" They look at me funny then usually burst out laughing.
