My job hunting experience.

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

First of all, this site has helped me tremendously through NS and Nclex. Such an amazing resource! I graduated May 2012, took and passed NCLEX July 2012. It took me exactly 2 months to receive a job offer. I read a couple of articles here about taking it a step further to getting your name out there other than just applying online for RN positions. For me personally, this worked. I e-mailed nurse managers in floors I was interested in (which I had to hunt around the internet to find their e-mail addresses. I also added my resume to the e-mail). Some NM never replied, some said they did not have an open position but would keep me in mind. One NM actually e-mailed me back about a month and half later and asked if I was still interested in a position on her floor. Last week I had an interview with her. It was a behavioral style type interview which had to do with scenario type questions...different! She called a day later and offered me a position for nights which was exactly what I wanted. :)

So with a lot of patience, prayer (lots!), and research it is possible to find a job these days. Don't give up for you have come this far. Sincere hopes and good luck to those who are currently job hunting!

CONGRATS! How did you go about finding their email addresses? Or names for that matter?

Yes please share how did you find their info?!?

Thank-you! I actually read and followed Tokyorose's article "How I got my dream job!". I called the floor and asked for the nurse manager's name. I then googled their name. Some e-mail addresses I found on LinkedIn and some on a random site. I would then test the e-mail addresses at "verify-email.org". So it's a hit or miss if it's their current e-mail addresses. To make sure the NM's received a notification of my interest in their floor I also would also leave a message on their office voicemail.
