Which job to choose?

Which job do I choose? What would you do?

1 - the pool job I have right now which is easy, not stressful, and would not conflict with family events, no holidays. However, it is boring, not challenging.

or

2 - a job in an area of nursing I would love to work in, something different that I have a great interest in, yet the hours etc would interfere with child care, family events and holidays.

The pay and commute are about the same. But I would be working more hours with taking #2 so that would be a little more $.

I have made this type of decision before and chose my family. I really want to follow my heart and choose a job I would find rewarding. However, I don't want to screw over my husband and kids. Thoughts?

Does anyone have any input? I am so back and forth on this decision. Keep my low stress boring job and have off holidays etc, OR pursue my dream but have to work a lot of nights, weekends, holidays etc? I feel like I should pursue my dream job, but the though of missing Christmas morning with my kids breaks my heart.

If it were me, I'd follow my dream. I'm a mom of 2 so I completely understand about not wanting to short-change your family. HOWEVER, why should being a mom stop you from pursuing your own dream? I think it's a great example to set for your kids: you're never to old to follow your dreams!

I quit teaching after 20 years because I wanted to go to nursing school. My kids are older (21 and 18) and hubby is very understanding and supportive so I'm fortunate with that. They know that dinner won't always get made, the house won't always be clean, I may miss events...but they are all so proud of me for going back to school and pursuing a childhood dream.
