Where do I even start?

Nurses Career Support

Hello all! I am interesting in going to school to become an RN and have no idea where to start. I already have a BS in Psychology and Criminology. I've been looking at programs in my area and nothing seems to fit with someone that already has a degree. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start? How long would it take? Would online be best? I live in Columbus, Ohio if anyone lives close to here. :)

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

There are "accellerated BSN" programs that are designed for persons with a degree in another field. It takes a year.

Otherwise, you're going to have to apply to BSN programs and ADN programs. They all are going to probably have pre-reqs, many of which you're going to already have such as the language arts, but others you might need to take first such as microbiology and anatomy and physiology. Your best bet is to talk to an advisor in person or on the phone.

Good luck.
