Washington, DC Market for RNs or RTs

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am wondering what the market is like for newly graduated RNs and RTs? I am still considering a nursing career but have also thought about respiratory therapy. I want to graduate and get a job, basically, and can't determine what the market is like here in DC. Are area hospitals hiring? Are people running into trouble like people in other parts of the country?

Thanks for any insight!

This is a great area for RN opportunities in my experience. Things have tightened a bit but nothing like what I'm hearing in other areas. The best advice I could give anyone is to line up a gig well before you graduate. If there is a unit where you really click get things going sooner rather than waiting until after you graduate and have passed NCLEX.

Thanks, Jules A. Are you the same person who wrote asking about UDC a few years ago? (I've been reading the boards all day) Where did you end up going if I may ask? How were you able to snag your first job?

I know that I want to do an Associates only (I have a collection of degrees I don't use and I want this one to count! heh) and pay in cash as I go along. UDC is very attractive to me for this reason. Hoping their graduates place well after all is said and done!
