Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Summer 2018

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi everyone! My name is Tori. I created this page for those interested in the summer 2018 nurse residency program at Medical Center in Nashville, TN. We can use this page as a place to share application tips, updates on the status of applications/interviews, tips for the entire application/interview process, etc. And of course, it's great to speak with others going through the same experience!

Right I was so confused!! Thank you!! I have been waiting so patiently for my references but apparently 2/3 haven't even received their forms because the university has been blocking them!! Feb 2nd seemed so far, but now it doesn't! haha

Specializes in PICU.

@Bioboo that's right! Everything should say "Received" before you can submit. :)

@Sierrapk I totally agree - Feb 2nd is quickly approaching!!

Well, my entire packet is submitted now! Fingers crossed for all, let the anxious waiting and trying to focus on current coursework begin!

Hi again! Obviously this is far off and I may not even get a job at , but has anyone thought about places to live? It is sooooo expensive!

I live around the Nashville area! There is Hendersonville and Gallatin on the north side of Nashville. They are very nice, and have lots of apartments. There is the south side of Nashville, such as Brentwood or Franklin. I think they are more expensive than north of Nashville. Mt. Juliet is a great place too, but it may be a little further out. Right now Nashville is growing so much, it is hard to find something not expensive.

Yeah I'm coming from Central IL so it will be quite a move for me! Are you worried about crazy traffic getting to work if living in the suburbs though? I'd like to live in Nashville, but it's over $1000 just for a studio apartment

ya I've definitely thought that too!! I think my best bet is to find a roommate! They have nice 2 bedrooms around the hospital from what I've seen!

Yeah, that price for apartments is gonna be around $1000 outside of Nashville too. There are cheaper apartments around, but maybe not as nice. If working nights from 7-7, traffic wouldn't be bad going and coming from Nashville. Traffic is heavy from around 8am -6 pm. There are lots of new apartments in Nashville now, and they seem very nice! There are also condos for rent/sale in Nashville.

Thanks for the advice!!!

@sierrapk maybe we are meant to be roomies! Sierra and Sierra!

Haha I know and your applying for the peds track!! You'll have to keep me updated!!
