Nursing in Indianapolis

U.S.A. Indiana

Hello Indy Nurses,

I'm currently job searching for an RN job in Indianapolis. I know IU health and St.Vincent have recently laid off a lot of people. Do you guys think there would still be a chance for me landing a job there. Also I am a new nurse but I do have some hospital experience. Or are they on a hiring freeze of some sort? HELP

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

St. Vincent is hiring experienced RNs- what area do you have experience in? They are ALWAYS looking from Trauma/ Neuro ICU staff.

Community is just getting ready to announce their cost-cutting measures, so it's a crap shoot there. (My daughter works for them)

IU Health has been hit the hardest in my opinion. we have hired many, many refugees from their system.

Franciscan - don't know a lot about them. They are the smallest system in the area.

There's also Hendricks in suburban Danville- a nice place to work.

I've done a nursing internship for hospital while I was in nursing school and as a nurse assistant as well. It was an adult med/surg and pediatric floor. I've also emphasized that I'm working on my Bachelors.

There certainly is 100% a chance of landing a job. Just market yourself, interview confidently and make your resume stand out. Know what you have the offer.

But keep in mind, the job market is a bit rough out there. I did about 70 applications and 12 interviews before I landed a job I really wanted. (I was being a bit picky.. but fortunately I had that luxury for the time being). From what I've heard St.Vincent laid off a ton of nurses within the past year, same with IU Health.

IU Health laid off a large number of nurses. The majority of people St Vincent laid off we're not direct patient care staff, it was mainly unit clerks and cutting/combining management and directors. There are currently have a large number of open positions there.
