Need advice from lpn or rn a.s.a.p.

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am interested in becoming a nurse and I wanted to start off as an Lpn but, I am worried how the pay is. I have been told that Lpn's are only being paid $10 - $14 dollars an hour depending on where you work. I would like to be employed in a hospital but, I have been told that it may be very hard to get a hospital to hire a lpn. Can anyone give me some advice on the pay and local hospitals in Richmond? I need advice on what schools are good. I am looking into the Medical Careers College. My husband has agreed to me being off work for a year or two to complete a nursing program. Someone please give me some good advice.

Specializes in geriatrics.

The LTC facility (in northwest Ohio) I work at starts off LPN's at $14/hr. with pretty good benefits. From job interviews I've went on to local hospitals, the LTC field pays LPNs more than a hospital does.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I earn $19 hourly at a nursing home in Texas, and I have about 1.5 years of experience at this time. In my area, nursing homes pay a whole lot better than the local hospitals.
