MBA vs msn

Nurses Career Support

Published

I've been an ED / flight nurse for 7 years but currently am a slave to the high wages in San Francisco. I live in Denver and fly back n forth for a 6-on, 8-off schedule. I'm looking to settle down in Denver full- time and am considering going back to school. Anybody have any advice as far as what type of jobs are out there for someone with an MBA and a BSN? I'm also considering going back to get my MSN emphasizing in informatics. Anybody working in informatics have anything to share about likes / dislikes?

I have very little nursing experience and am saying this purely from what ive read/researched/learned (both on these forums and elsewhere. Although I have my MBA and am in an MSN program)

But it seems like the hottest ticket for nursing leadership is a dual masters having both your MSN and MBA. Its more money and more work for you but I think it also will offer you by far the most opportunities since youll have both advanced nursing knowledge (from the MSN) and business/financial knowledge from the MBA.

I know there are programs that offer a dual degree for the MSN/MBA as well.

Informatics also seemed really cool to me, though I dont know much about the opportunities it offers.
