is it just me or..

Its going on in Connecticut too. Of course there aren't nearly as many hospitals in CT as there are in Cali but there are only a couple that hire LPN's in the hospital that are in a 20 mile radius of me. Only 2 or 3 come to mind right now. Of course Clinics that are connected to the hospitals all hire LPN's just not the actual hospital. Its been like that for quite a few years around here.

As a matter of fact, one hospital that I would have been going to clinicals for (LPN student here) no longer are allowing LPN students only RN students .

The Magnet hospital in my area does not hire LPN's, except in the doctors offices affiliated with them. There are 2 other hospitals in the area that will hire LPN's, but the jobs seem to be far and few inbetween.

I attended an LVN program in Southern California two years ago, and left the state immediately upon graduation to relocate. Hospitals in my new state of residence (Texas) still hire LVNs, because the LVN scope of practice is very wide here. Hospital LVNs are hired primarily to work in med/surg, subacute, psych, long term acute care, and telemetry.

However, I choose voluntarily to work at a nursing home because the pay is significantly better.
