how far is too far to commute?

Just looking for some wise advice. Have been offered an RN job that sounds okay that is 30 minute drive. I have an upcoming interview for a same day surgery position which is an hour commute one way. I am more interested in that type of position but the drive and gas prices scare me. What should I do? Thanks for any advice.

My commute is 45 minutes and I love it! Like another poster said, it's down time for me. By the time I get home I'm ready for my husband and children. Also, the job pays more than I was offered closer to home (there's my gas and car maintenance) and it's 3 12 hour shifts instead of 5 8 hour shifts. It works for us. :) Do what works for your family.
